Supporting Abortion Seekers Training for Social Service Workers

This online training prepares social service workers including counsellors, social workers, and doulas to support abortion seekers. Ten short asynchronous modules include information on abortion access and care; trauma-informed, gender-inclusive, and person-centered counselling; making abortion seeker referrals; and identifying accurate resources. Certificate of completion available.

Don't forget the Social Workers!

Social workers are in myriad community-based and institutional settings, and are important contributors to the abortion workforce. They connect service-seekers to medical information and needed care, while navigating complex circumstances and systems. Yet, social workers receive minimal training on abortion. This project established further evidence on social work’s role in abortion care and identified professional supports that may prove most useful to social workers.
