Anyone who is duly registered with the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (Régie) and, who holds a prescription from a physician or medical resident for the claim slip, or temporary proof of eligibility for medication will have access to the Mife-Miso for abortion without cost. A person at least fourteen (14) years of age, but under eighteen (18) years of age who consents alone to the services provided by the program, in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Code, may benefit from the program even if they do not present a valid health insurance card or claim slip. Anyone eighteen (18) and over who does not present their health insurance card or a valid claim slip must pay the benefit; therefore, they may request reimbursement from the Régie using the form provided for this purpose.
Any service obtained outside Quebec is not covered by this program. An exception to this principle is when:
- The medication is supplied by a pharmacist, with whom the Régie has a special agreement for this purpose.
- The pharmacy is in a region bordering with Quebec.
- No pharmacy in Quebec serves the population within a radius of 32 kilometers from this pharmacy.
